Cherie was born September 9, 1948, in Tiffin, Ohio, to Dan and Eldora (Hirschfeld) Orwig.
Cherie lived a full life, graduating from Bowling Green State University with a Bachelors then Masters degrees in communication. She was a highly respected employee in communication and public relations with numerous large hospitals in Ohio. In 1998 a position in this field opened up in Denver, Colorado, and she was eager for a change in scenery.
Cherie's love of the outdoors was a perfect match for her life in Colorado. She loved spending time in the Rocky Mountains and enjoyed skiing, hiking, biking, white water rafting and mountain climbing. She joined a scuba club and enjoyed time in Bonaire. She was a lifelong fan of the Cleveland Indians (Guardians) as well as The Ohio State Buckeyes.
After moving to Colorado she became a huge fan of DU hockey and through that passion became a close friend with John Christensen. They were season ticket holders and together went to as many home games as possible. Both enjoyed myriad sports and spent time together watching hockey, football, basketball and the Winter Olympics.
Cherie is preceded in death by her parents.
