Claire was born in Cedar City, Ut, the daughter of George and Ellen Foster. She spent her childhood and early adult life in Cedar City. She had 7 siblings, of which she was the youngest daughter, and 3rd youngest child. She was the last to survive all of her siblings. She attended college at the College of Southern Utah (now known as Southern Utah University).
Claire was preceded in death by her husband Donald Peter. They were married on July 24, 1959 and were married for 62 years when he passed away in 2020.
She is survived by her three children Julie Ann, Donald Greig (LeeAnn), and Curtis Lynn (Amy) and 7 grandchildren: Collin, Landon (Faith), Logan, Rachel, Keaton, Justin and Cameron. She has 4 great grandchildren, 3 surviving : Brynn (died as infant), Oliver, Bria, and Charli.
In her early adult years, she worked as a secretary at the Kennecott Copper mine and this is where she met Donald. The first time Don passed by her office she said “I’m going to marry that man.” After they got married and started their family, she got a cosmetology certificate and worked as a hair dresser to help support the family while he was finishing his graduate school. Donald and Claire moved to many locations throughout the country before settling in the Denver, CO area in 1982 and ultimately built their dream home in Sedalia, CO in 1995. They were fortunate to have all of their children live nearby.
From a young age, Claire had a passion for being in the outdoors. She was a hunter and was an excellent shot. She liked to fish, camp, and waterski and was still riding a jet ski at age 90. Claire and Don went on many roadtrips with their family and friends in their RV. She also enjoyed sewing and quilting and loved music. She was a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers for several years. Most of all, she loved time spent with her family and enjoyed weekly family dinners with all of her kids and grandkids. She was always present at extracurricular activities and if asked, would say that her family was her greatest accomplishment.
