Courtney Graff

Courtney Renae Graff, 39, of Castle Rock, Colorado passed away unexpectedly on September 16, 2023. She was born on February 14, 1984, in Seward, Nebraska, to Kathy Haas and Steve Haas. Courtney was a fun-loving, high-energy individual who embraced adventure in life.

Courtney dedicated herself professionally to education. She had a love for math, science, and hands-on learning. She had high expectations for her students while developing a strong classroom community where students felt comfortable and loved. Courtney taught 1st, 2nd, and 4th grades in Castle Rock, both at Sage Canyon Elementary and Rock Ridge Elementary, where she also attended.

Outside of her professional life, Courtney had a wide range of hobbies that brought her joy and fulfillment. She enjoyed hiking, paddleboarding, gardening, crocheting, knitting, and baking. These activities allowed her to express her creativity and explore the beauty of nature, which she called her happy place.

Courtney is survived by her loving mother, Kathy Haas, her father and step-mother, Steve and Beth Haas. She also leaves behind her cherished children: Claire Schubarth (12), Levi Schubarth (8), and Hadley Schubarth (5). Additionally, she is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Emily and Jeremy Knakmuhs, her brother Jarod Haas, and her half-brother, Bailey Haas. Courtney will be deeply missed by her nieces and nephews: Colton, Remi, and Kennedie.

A Celebration of Life will be held on October 22, 2023, from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the Millhouse at Philip S. Miller Park (1357 W Plum Creek Pkwy, Castle Rock, CO 80109). Family, friends, and loved ones are invited to come together to honor Courtney’s memory and share stories of her remarkable life.

Courtney’s vibrant spirit, love for adventure, and dedication to education will forever be remembered by those who had the privilege of knowing her. She will be greatly missed and her memory will live on in the hearts of all who loved her.
