Craig William Spencer, born on June 13, 1964, in Somerville, New Jersey, passed away on October 21, 2025, at the age of 61. He was a resident of Sedalia, Colorado. Craig was the middle son of Sam and Jo Spencer. Craig was the brother of Todd and Julie Spencer.
His family raised registered Hampshire sheep and club market lambs together for many years. Craig was an active 4-H member in Douglas County from 1976 through 1982. He was recognized for his 4-H accomplishments with the Livestock Achievement Award in 1982. He graduated from Douglas County High School in 1982, then attended college at California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo, CA where he stayed active in his fraternity, livestock judging and agriculture. Craig won the High Senior College Individual Judging competition at Cow Palace in San Francisco, CA in 1986. Later on, Craig returned to Douglas County where he supported livestock judging as an assistant coach for the team. He worked with John and Bea Lowell who had a vision for their ranch with the Colorado Agriculture Leadership Foundation (CALF) as a founding member. Craig enjoyed leading tours of the Lowell Ranch for several years during CALF open houses. Craig continued to support the 4-H livestock programs and young 4-Hers in Douglas County as an active supporter and buyer at the Jr. Livestock Sale each year.
Craig lived his life with humor and wit, love for his family, loyalty to his friends, keen knowledge and passion of coins, and finding the best spots for fishing. Anyone who spent time with Craig, knew that he loved all kinds of coins and fishing in any season. Craig took his nieces and nephew, friends and family to his favorite fishing spots around the state of Colorado. He loved traveling to Alaska, Florida and Canada to catch "the hog!" which he would proudly take a picture with before releasing it back into the water. One of his favorite animals is moose which he would marvel at their enormous size and voracious appetite as he took many pictures as he hiked to a mountain lake at 5 am. If you were blessed to go fishing with Craig, you knew that he drove fast and furious to get to the best fishing spot before the parking lot was full as he always left at 4 am!
Craig recently went on a trip of a lifetime where he traveled to Las Vegas, played in a poker tournament, and flew in a helicopter over the Grand Canyon. He loved sharing about his trips and vacations that he took over the years, but this was one on his bucket list. He talked about traveling back to Alaska, too. Craig will be dearly missed and forever remembered by all those who loved and knew him. Craig is survived by his father, Sam Spencer, older brother Todd Spencer (Tracy) and younger sister, Julie Spencer. He was preceded in death by his mother, Jo Ann Spencer. He leaves behind many beloved cousins, nieces and nephews, and cherished friends.
