Dan, you always made light of every situation. You were my best friend. Everything we did we always had a great time from golf to double dates to just hanging out. We always were getting into something. You had an amazing impact on people. I’ll always remember the time we first met in the locker room after football practice, and automatically I knew we would be great friends. You were smart, outgoing, always making people laugh, and always knew how to turn a bad time into a good time. I’ll miss you forever and always be thinking about you. I love you brother.

Blessed is an understatement for the opportunity that I had to know Dan. All through school he was more than just a friend to me, he was truly a brother. I will cherish every moment that we had whether it be fishing, finding new music, or just enjoying the views. No matter where, he had an contagious attitude for adventure and those memories will never be forgotten.

Mr. and Mrs. Formento, Jess, and all of Dan’s family, I would like to thank you for raising such an amazing human and friend to me. He was such a blessing to so many.

Love you Mento, rest easy.

It is heartbreaking to hear this news to say the least. Dan was my roommate for a year while he was still living in Nebraska and friend since the beginning of college when we met. I will forever cherish the memories that were made at that house whether it be the crazy neighbors or all the nights spent gaming till who knows when. Dan was always the first to crack a joke and always the last one laughing. He will be truly missed by many. Love you Danny Boy rest easy.

Sending you our thoughts and prayers at this difficult time. We appreciate the friend Dan was to Blake and we cherish the memories we have of Dan. I will forever see an Xterra and think of him. We will also always remember Dan when we watch the movie Free Willy and think of his sun sense of humor. We loved him and his big smile and fun personality. Sending you heavenly hugs. Much love to you Barb, Dennis and Jess!

One of my earliest memories is of my mom telling me about the upcoming birth of Dan. It was on a brisk Colorado evening at a park, and although I was probably only around 4 years old at the time, I still remember the curious excitement I felt as my mom told me I was going to have my very first cousin.

As the years went by, that excitement grew into a strong familial bond with Dan over the many holidays, road trips, and football games Evan and I spent with him. Eventually I came to the age that I could babysit Dan and Jess, and I would try to be the "cool" cousin by saying their bedtime was 9:30 and then claiming to bend the rules by letting them stay up until 10 (which is what their bedtime really was).

But in truth, babysitting Dan never really felt like a job. He was always so well-mannered, easy, and fun to be around - traits that stuck with him into adulthood. As you age, it starts to seem harder to find decent, well-intentioned people in the world. Dan was one of those rare good ones. He was always genuine, loving, & polite, and held the values he was brought up with close to his heart.

Dan, I will always love you and miss you. It was an honor and privilege having you as my first first-cousin.

You’ll always be the one & only Dan the Man.

Daniel was our first nephew. I remember us visiting Dennis & Barb at the hospital when he was born in 1997. You all had just moved to Highlands Ranch a couple months earlier. This was the beginning of a new chapter of your lives; new baby, new home, new job location for Dennis, and Barb being much farther away from Mom & Dad. It also brought you near us. We are so happy you were able to stay near us in Colorado where we could watch each other’s families grow and spend precious time with each other throughout each year. You asked Lisa and I to be Daniel’s Godparents, and we gladly accepted.

Dan was such a handsome young man. Always very polite and loving towards us. We will miss him dearly. One thing we have focused on these past few days though is not only the loss of Dan, but the endless amount of love you as parents and sister gave Dan over the years. Just looking at the pictures in this memorial site show the genuine love from a wonderful father, mother, and sister.

Your involvement with all of Dan’s sports activities, fishing trips, and traveling to vacation destinations together were wonderful. You will always cherish these beautiful memories of being together.

We remember the ski trips we took together and then stopping at Beau Jo’s Pizza in Idaho Springs on the way home. Dan loved Beau Jo’s and those dinners were a real treat and a highlight of the day. I wish we could do it all over again.

We share the pain of your loss. Much of our pain not only comes from the loss of Dan, but from seeing the pain the three of you are experiencing. We wish there was something we could do or say that would help. Just know the love we share with you and the love we have for Dan will last forever.

Phil and I were remembering Daniel at our wedding. He was so scared of me in my dress when I was standing , then we sat to open our gifts. And he was right there to help.
The next day all the family met up with Phil and I in Red Lodge for a picnic. Daniel wouldn’t let Phil sit by me. He as by my side all that day where ever I was. He must of been about 2 1/2 years old then.

Our dear grandson and his cousin “Evan” were always getting into mischief together. On one of our visits we took our small dog Rosie with us. Well we went to the area where her food and treats were and the treats were gone! Then the two guys started to laugh and we found out they ATE them. They were around 5 and 6 at the time and dared each other to eat them. We will always have lots of good memories of our grandson and can smile about them. Rest In Peace Daniel!
