David Lee Pemberton, 64 of Elizabeth, Colorado passed away Monday, October 5, 2015 at the Denver Hospice.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 12, 2015 at the Elizabeth Presbyterian Church. Interment will be held at 12:30 p.m. at the Elizabeth, Colorado Cemetery. Pastor Spear will officiate.
Born on December 12, 1950 in Simla, Colorado he was the son of Lawrence and Katie (Schrum) Pemberton.
At the time of David’s birth the family lived in the country outside of Agate. Within a couple of years they moved to Elizabeth where David attended Elizabeth schools and graduated in 1969. After graduation he continued working at the Elizabeth Locker Plant for 20 years. In 1989, David started working as a custodian for Elizabeth schools and continued for the next 21 years (1989 – 2010). He loved to make kids smile and during his time working for the Elizabeth school district he enjoyed being able to keep a watchful eye on his nieces at school. David was a lifelong resident of Elizabeth, except for a brief 1 month try at city life in Denver.
David battled diabetes, which led to several subsequent illnesses, including kidney failure and various complications.
David enjoyed the outdoors and hunting. He liked watching game shows: Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy and his favorite The Price is Right. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching the Colorado Rockies, college football and basketball but he never missed a chance to root on his Denver Bronco’s. David had a kind heart and an always-smiling face. He attended numerous farm auctions and sales, always looking for the next bargain.
David is preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Katie Pemberton, brothers Lee Roy and Jimmy and sister June. David is survived by his brothers and sisters: Alice and her husband George Taylor of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; Albert Ray and his wife Connie Pemberton of Burlington, Colorado; brother-in-law Franc Reed of Aurora, Colorado; Katherine and her husband Mark Mitchell of Benton, Louisiana, Betty McQuinn of Omaha, Nebraska; Eileen Tegels of Mitchell, South Dakota; Sharon and her husband Ray Lagarde of Albuquerque, New Mexico; Fred and his wife Jonna Pemberton of Elizabeth, Colorado and Gene Pemberton also of Elizabeth, Colorado; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
