Donald served in the Ohio National Guard and went on to build a career as an engineer for several companies. Fairfield Engineering ultimately moved the family to Colorado, where he continued to devote himself to steady, capable work and a life rooted in responsibility and service.
On January 15, 1966, Donald married Phyllis, after being introduced by his sister-in-law. Together they built a family that remained central to his life. He was the proud father of two children, Curtis and Cynthia, and the grandfather of three grandchildren, Amber, Taylor, and Kyra. He was also blessed with one great-grandchild, Brayden, and the family is expecting a second great-grandchild in August.
Donald found deep satisfaction in the outdoors and in the patient pursuit of knowledge and discovery. He loved to hunt for and collect rocks and belonged to four to five rock clubs, enjoying both the search and the fellowship it brought. In Larkspur, CO, he served as a volunteer firefighter for 25 years, offering his time and courage in quiet, dependable ways. He also participated in The Scouts with his son, sharing experiences that reflected his commitment to family and community.
A man of faith and involvement, Donald was active at Ridgeline Community Church, where his presence and dedication were part of the fabric of congregational life.
Funeral Services are being planned.
