DJ was born on August 16, 1984 in Kansas City, Kansas. He grew up in Edwardsville, KS for a few years, and then moved to Basehor, KS graduating from Basehor-Linwood High School in 2003. DJ was a happy, loving, smart, social kid with lots of friends and belonged to Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Bonner Springs which eventually moved to Shawnee.
DJ was athletic and rode a bicycle at age three, played baseball from age three through high school. He played basketball, and saxophone in the band and then jazz band in college. DJ was a proud K-State graduate with a Bachelor’s in the school of Engineering.
He started working for Mortenson Construction right after graduation, in El Paso, Texas. He lived there with his best buddy dog, Lucy.
DJ made many work friends through Mortenson over the years around the country as some places he worked on projects were in Texas, Nevada, Minnesota, Philidelphia, Hawaii, Winnipeg, Canada and Utah on the Facebook project in Eagle Mountain.
Most recently, for the past year, DJ worked at JHL Constructors in Englewood, CO. He was proud of the work they were doing.
He leaves behind his family, as he called them, his two dashunds, Oliver ‘Oli’ and Ellie.
He is survived by his mother, Cynthia Clark (Butko), stepfather Tony Clark, two sisters, Megan Beashore and Lauren Miles, Travis Miles, his nieces Aubrey Beashore and Reagan Miles, his nephews, Garrett Beashore, Austin Beashore and Grant Miles, and many cousins, aunts, and uncles.
He is survived by his paternal grandmother Barbara Wright.
We will have a mass at Sacred Heart in Shawnee, KS and celebration of life to be determined.
