Keith is survived by his wife Diane, and his four sons; Brian, (wife Kris, children: Maddie and Morgan), Brad (wife Kaylynn, children Annabeth and Briar), Brett (wife Natalie, children: Brett Jr, Brock, Brooklyn and Bristol), and Brandon (children: Brinley, Brody and Collin) as well as his brother Kent and many nieces and nephews.
Keith was born in Denver, Colorado on May 10, 1950 to Marvin and Jean Johnson and graduated from Kennedy High School in Denver. He married his wife Diane in 1968 and began to build a 52-year marriage, and a family filled with love.
Keith began working for Mountain Bell, where he eventually retired from US West in 2001. Keith devoted his life to serving others as a firefighter and member of the Competition Running Team with the Edgewater Fire Department from 1971 to 1991, eventually serving as the Chief of the Department. After his retirement from the fire department, Keith and Diane moved from Edgewater to Castle Rock. Keith worked hard to make Castle Rock his new home and loved his new community. He eventually took on a position at Lowe’s where he made many new friends.
Keith was a man of many interests, who lived a life full of passion for his many hobbies and interests. He was an avid car enthusiast, craftsman, outdoorsman, and artist who loved to build things. After rebuilding his 1949 Willy’s Jeep, he spent several years competing in races on weekends at the Georgetown Lake Ice Races.
Of all the passions in Keith’s life, none was greater than the love and devotion he had for his family. He was a tremendous husband, father, and grandfather who showed his loved for being a dad by coaching his sons’ teams when they were young, and attending events for his many grandchildren. In addition to being an incredible father, he was a true friend to those who knew him.
Keith is preceded in death by his mother and father, his sister Connie, and his grandson Braxton.
A funeral service for Donald will be held Thursday, September 23, 2021 at 11:00 AM at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 2746 5th St., Castle Rock, CO 80104. A committal service will occur Thursday, September 23, 2021 at Cedar Hill Cemetery, 880 E. Wolfensberger Rd., Castle Rock, CO 80109. A reception will occur Thursday, September 23, 2021 at 2:00 PM at The Millhouse @ Miller Athletic Complex, 1381 W. Plum Creek Parkway, Castle Rock, CO 80109.
