In 1966 Dee met her Prince Charming, Curt Thompson. They were married on January 26, 1967, six months after they met.
Dee's family grew with the addition of three children, Scott, Jennifer and Sarah. Saw was mother-in-law to Melissa and Kurt. She was blessed with five wonderful grandchildren, AJ, Bradon, Karter, Avery, and McKenna.
She loved being a wife, mother,
mother-in-law and grandmother.
Dee was passionate about reading, writing, painting, arts and crafts, and mostly her friends and family. She loved to volunteer at the Castle Rock Senior Center. Her creative and adventurous side grew everyday. She embraced everyday and lived a great life. Dee was full of love, laughter, and a little bit of spice. From her many friends at the senior center, to all the students she counseled at school, to the readers at the library and her many friends and family, she touched us all.
Dee's love for life was contagious and will live in all of us forever.
Here is a poem that my mom wrote that I would like for you to read.
To be able to dream is a wonder in itself
To hear a bird's song or to feel a gentle breeze thru your hair
To see a baby's smile is a powerful thing, a powerful sign
The sweet kiss of love,
A child's great big hug,
The laughter of friends
A child's hand caressing your face
Fulfilling a promise
Holding hands
Being there for someone with just the thought of being there for them
Making pictures in the clouds overhead
Seeing the beauty around you
Reading a good book
Writing a letter
Being a comfort for someone
These are only a part of the good things in life
