Dorman E. Followwill, Sr. went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ November 11, 2020 in Castle Rock, Colorado. Dorman was born November 26, 1928 in Munday, Texas, the only child of Henry Dee Followwill and Gurtha Reeves Followwill. Dorman grew up on the family farm in Munday, studied geology at Texas Tech and married his high school sweetheart, Paralee Ann “Pat” Matthews in 1950. His bride of almost 70 years died January 22, 2020. They had 4 children together: Pamela Brill of Castle Rock, CO, Patti Miller- deceased 2017 (Rick), Diana Helffenstein (Dennis) of Monument, CO and Dorman E. Followwill, Jr.(Blythe) of Witney, England. He is survived by grandchildren Sara Brill Drake (Ryan), Rob Brill; Ryan (Megan), Brad (Lacey) and Colin (Natalie) Miller; Paden Followwill Hughes (Michael), Esther Followwill Johnson (Charles), Jordan Followwill Brewitt-Taylor (Sam), Kaete Followwill, Ethan (Abby) Followwill and Chloe Helffenstein. Dorman is also survived by 15 great grandchildren. Dorman loved his work as a Petroleum Geologist, moving the family from Texas to New Mexico, Wyoming and Colorado as he advanced in his career. The family settled in Boulder, CO in 1967. Dorman and Pat stayed in Boulder after retirement until they moved to Castle Rock, CO in 2002. Dorman was a man of great faith and walked closely with the Lord. He was a faithful husband, a loving father and grandfather and a man of principle. Both Dorman and Pat were in leadership with Bible Study Fellowship for many years and attended Grace Church of Castle Rock. He also had a wonderful sense of humor. We are thankful for every prayer he prayed at the dinner table and for each of us when we needed it most. He was deeply loved and will be missed by so many.
The family would like to express their thanks and appreciation to the staff at Brookside Inn who took such good care of him after his wife passed. Their care and love for him, and his for them, made the dark days of COVID-19 brighter.
Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of His godly ones. Psalms 116:15
