Ed was born on November 30th, 1940 in Denver, Colorado. He grew up in Sedalia, Colorado and graduated from Douglas County High School in 1959. After graduation he served in the Army. Later he met Loretta and they married in September of 1965. They continued to lay down roots in Sedalia, Colorado, and had four children together, Audra, Eddie, Ronda and Michael. Ed and Loretta owned Johnson’s Corner in Sedalia for a few year employing youth throughout the community. Ed worked for Safeway as a meat cutter for 20 years.
The Ehmann Family homesteaded South of Castle Rock in the Lake Gulch area, has been a part of Douglas County for multiple generations, and part of St. Francis Catholic Church for more than 100 years.
Ed was an avid fisherman. He spent countless days throughout the entire year up on the river or out at the lake always catching the first and most fish. He enjoyed hunting annually to provide for his family. He used it as a way to teach his children and grandchildren the importance of survival and enjoyed the family time at camp. Ed played and participated in many sports being one of the best on the court or field, and even had an offer to tryout for the Denver Broncos. Sports were a staple his entire life. He never missed any of the grandkids’ sporting events. His family would always catch him in front of the television watching the game in his later years. As a family they took many camping trips. Ed and Loretta also had some big travels with close friends. When he wasn’t doing these you could find him in front of a slot machine pressing buttons but most likely not winning a dime. He enjoyed many trips to Black Hawk with Loretta and family just to see how quick his luck would run out. We all know he is winning big now and pressing those buttons everyday!
Ed was a family man! He was loyal and loving towards his entire family! He would give anyone the shirt off his back. He was a mentor to many, and always took the time to coach and teach his kids and grandkids. Ed always had jokes and wise cracks to say to everyone but especially his family! He sure knew how to argue about anything and he wouldn’t let it go until he got the last word. By golly we all know he was right anyways! He was a proud man especially of our great country, the United States of America! You could always catch him wearing patriotic colors!
Ed is survived by his wife Of 57 years, Loretta, his four children Audra(Todd) Jensma, Edward Ehmann, Ronda(Brian) Dudeck, and Michael(Cristi Krause) Ehmann. Fifteen grandchildren and their spouses as well as twelve great grandchildren and many more to come!
