She grew up in North Dakota and attended nearby public schools for eight years. Elsie spent much of her life on a farm in North Dakota. She took pride in her time on the farm, working with cows and crops.
Elsie met Arnold Schwecke, a neighbor, during a dinner she attended with her brothers. The two were married on February 10, 1946, in Jamestown, North Dakota. In 1951, they moved to California, where she became a drill press operator.
Elsie was a devoted wife and a kind, loving mother who instilled a strong work ethic in her children. She found joy in quilting and needlework and held a deep love for the Lord Jesus. Active in her Lutheran church, Elsie lovingly contributed her time to quilting for the homeless and faithfully participated in women’s groups and the senior group.
Elsie is survived by her sons: Eston Schwecke and his wife Barbara, Stephen Schwecke and his wife Julie; grandchildren: Kari Armstrong and her husband Brian, Kasey Miller and her husband Joe, Kate Pourhassanian and her husband Cameron, Tyler Schwecke and Brandon Schwecke; great-grandchildren: Blythe Armstrong, Greyson Armstrong, Greere Armstrong, Max Miller, Ben Miller, Hudson Miller, Emerson Pourhassanian, and Beckett Pourhassanian, and her niece, Deborah and her husband Steve.
