Gene Boris Stoyko Jr., 69, died after a short bout of cancer on Friday, October 23, 2026, surrounded by his wife Debbie and daughters Ashley and Laryssa. Gene is preceded in death by his parents Gene Sr. and Carolyn (Daff). He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Deborah (Wichmann); his siblings Paul Stoyko, Tammy Stoyko-Payson, and Victoria Stoyko; his children Ashley Stoyko (Colby Tomlinson) and Laryssa Stoyko (Jake Baca); his grandchildren Jacob, Dimitri, and baby boy Baca on the way; and many nieces and nephews.
Gene was born on October 21, 1957, in Uniontown, Pennsylvania, and raised in Cleveland, Ohio.
Gene carried a strong sense of responsibility and service throughout his life and career. He proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1975 to 1979 as an Aircraft Maintenance Specialist and Crew Chief with Strategic Air Command’s 8th Air Force, 380th Bomber Wing in Plattsburgh, New York. He was honorably discharged after four years of service.
That technical foundation led to a decades-long professional career spanning
engineering, project management, sales, marketing, and leadership. Gene worked with
Landis & Gyr Powers, Trane, and Johnson Controls, progressing from design engineering and project management into regional and national leadership roles. His career took him to Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas, Missouri, and Colorado, and included developing teams, managing customer relationships, and helping guide the development of product sales for multiple business lines.
Family was at the heart of Gene’s life, and nothing brought him greater pride than being a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He was reliable, practical, and the person you could count on when you needed help, knowing that he would drop whatever he was doing to lend a hand. Gene had a positive outlook on life and always found time to laugh, have fun, and bring a playful spirit to the people around him. He loved watching movies, playing games, and sports, most notably being a lifelong Cleveland Browns fan. But the moments Gene treasured most were the ones simply spent being together with Debbie, his daughters and their families, his beloved grandchildren, and the family pets. Family was his greatest source of happiness, and the time shared together meant more to him than anything else.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 am on November 14, 2026, in the Starlight Room at Olinger Andrews Caldwell Gibson Chapel, located at 407 Jerry Street, Castle Rock, Colorado 80104.
