Gertrude "Trudy" Smith

September 4, 1932March 7, 2020

Gertrude (Trudy) Narene Smith of Castle Rock passed away on March 7, 2020 while in hospice care at Sky Ridge Medical Center.

Trudy is survived by her beloved daughter, Shauna Roos (Mike Pettit), Castle Rock, CO; and her three cherished grandchildren, Braden Adams, Houston, TX, Hannah Adams, Denver, CO, and Kendra Adams, Castle Rock, CO. She is preceded in death by her dear husband of over 60 years, Wayne L. Smith; and both of her parents.

Trudy was born in Butler, Missouri on September 4, 1932 to Clement Henry Leroy and Babe Gladys Leroy (Ramage). She graduated from Paseo High School at the age of 16. After meeting on a blind date, she married Wayne, a cowboy and artist from Oklahoma, on August 16, 1952, and the couple moved to Colorado where they would live for the rest of their lives. In 1965, Trudy and Wayne adopted a baby girl and named her Shauna. Their little family grew even more when grandchildren later arrived, first, Braden in 1990, then, Hannah in 1993 and finally, Kendra in 1996. Trudy was present to welcome each of them into the world. Trudy did professional modeling in her early years and held various administrative support roles throughout her long working career.

Trudy was a deep loving and ever-present wife, mother, and “Nana”. She loved to throw parties for any and every occasion, and she adored spending time with family, friends, neighbors, and her faithful canine companion, Taffy. Trudy always wore a smile, was a friend to all, and to most, was the sweetest person they had ever met. Her outgoing and bubbly personality made her light up a room and made people feel welcome. Trudy was the ultimate hostess, and she would even sometimes treat her guests by playing the piano and singing old church hymns. She was a Godly woman, and this was reflected in the way she treated everyone that she came across. She will truly be deeply missed by all who knew her, and held close in their hearts forever.

A Celebration of Life service and reception is being planned for late spring/summer. At your preference, donations may be made to Dumb Friends League in lieu of flowers.

Trudy was one of the most amazing people I have ever met. She was a wonderful woman filled with love and joy who, through her presence, was able to instill those feelings in all she met. She truly loved her family and her beloved dog Taffy deeply and exuded joy to all she encountered. I know that she is in a better place but she will truly be missed. Much love is sent to her family and to Taffy.

Trudy was a vivacious, smiling , supportive gracious lady loved by all who knew her! She loved her beautiful, talented daughter Shauna and was the most dedicated and supportive Mom for her. Trudy’s three Grandchildren, Braden, Hannah and Kendra made her heart sing as all three were loving, high achieving incredible young adults., They always included her in their celebrations as they knew she was cheering them on! In return, they were very kind and affectionate toward her. She will be greatly missed!
