Gregory Charles Erpelding was born on May 15, 1954 and passed away unexpectedly in his Aurora home on December 20, 2022 at the age of 68. After graduating from the University of Denver with a degree in accounting, he worked with his stepfather in the title insurance industry and stayed in that profession until retirement as a commercial title officer.
As a young man, Greg enjoyed racing motocross, skydiving, and outdoor activities. He was a frequenter of concerts of all genres including country, rock, punk, metal, and electronic dance music. He played competitive soccer and had a great love of wilderness backpacking and animals. He knew everything about American football as well as Premier League football and was a fan of Formula 1 racing (except for Max Verstappen, who is a big cheater according to him).
Greg was a lovable curmudgeon with a sensitive spirit that he’d hate for you to know about, an absolutely wicked sense of humor, and a heart of gold. In the winter he could be found thawing out the water in the birdbath so the birds had water to drink or shoveling the neighbors’ walkways without them ever asking. In every other season he could be found in the garden or the garage, fixing things, and spending time with his dogs whom he loved fiercely and more than most people. He was a great handyman and problem solver and was very proud of the fact that he, “knew how to do things.”
He was a loving son, husband, and father, and though his circle was small, he was also a wonderful friend. He is survived by his mother, Karen Paulsen, his wife of 18 years, Cheryl, his siblings Dawn, Susan and Mark, his daughters Bobbi and Micaela, his granddaughters Myanne and Madison as well as his great granddaughter, Lenai.
