

Henry grew up on a farm in South Heart, North Dakota. He was the middle of 3 children and lettered in basketball at South Heart High School. He loved to hunt with his dad and friends. As a young man he had a passion for teasing his younger sister. He graduated in 1956 and attended Dickinson State Teachers College in Dickinson, ND where he received a Bachelor's of Science Degree. He taught business and coached the basketball team before he received his Master's Degree in accounting from the University of North Dakota in 1962.
Henry moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota where he met Norita Ann at a church dance. They were married on December 26th, 1964 and started their family in California shortly after. He worked for Southern Pacific Railroad for 35 years before retiring in 1998. That year they moved to Albuquerque, NM where he loved to garden.
Henry was a devoted husband and loving father. He enjoyed going on picnics with the family and played ball and basketball with his boys. He would go with them to basketball games. He loved to watch college basketball, the team you could always find him cheering for was the UNM Lobo's. He had a passion for playing pinochle and reading mystery novels. Henry had a wonderful dry sense of humor and was very feisty at times. He was nicknamed the angry bear by his nurses.
In 2021 Henry and Norita made their final move to Colorado to be closer to family.
Henry is preceded in death by his wife, Norita Ann Blood.
He is survived by his sons: Erik Blood and his fiance Jennifer, and Robert Blood; sisters: Mary Ann Splichal, Rita Agnew and her husband Chuck; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral Mass for Henry will be held Tuesday, October 31, 2023 at 10:00 AM at St. Francis of Assisi Roman Catholic Church, 2746 Fifth St,, Castle Rock, CO 80104.
Graveside service at 11:30 AM at Cedar Hill Cemetery, 880 E. Wolfensberger Rd., Castle Rock, CO 80109.
