Jack Richard Jenson

Jack was born in Englewood, CO on November 11, 2000, and grew up in Castle Rock with his brother Luke. He attended Castle View High School and went on to Colorado State University, graduating with honors in 2023 with a degree in Biomedical Sciences. Jack had planned to pursue a career in medicine his entire life. He was ready to take the MCAT and launch into medical school when he was diagnosed with cancer.

Jack was a kind and thoughtful person whose calm, engaging personality and maturity were evident from a very young age. He was the type of son his parents simply never had to worry about - dependable, responsible, and he thought carefully and prayerfully before making decisions. He was devoted to practicing his Catholic faith and approached life from that focus. He was known for his intentional words and advice, even with his texts to friends.

Jack loved hiking in the mountains, reading, studying, taking trips, watching sports and attending games, playing guitar, camping, and hanging out with his friends. He was involved in sports from a young age and enjoyed playing baseball throughout high school. He was known for his love of trivia, an exceptional knowledge of geography, Catholic saints and scientific facts.

Jack adored his younger brother Luke and the two remained closely connected. He often said how the simple memories of playing in the yard, watching sports, hiking, taking vacations and playing catch with Luke were his most cherished. They had similar paths through attending the same high school, playing the same sports, and graduating from Colorado State University. Having both joined the Phi Kappa Theta Catholic fraternity, their circle of friends became interwoven.

Jack's dogs were another important part of his life. He was preceded in death by his beloved Golden Retrievers, Buck (2011) and Walter (2025), and is survived by Duke, the family's Goldendoodle who loved nothing more than joining him for a nap on his bed.

Jack was deep in love with Tate, his wonderful girlfriend for the past two years. She brought joy, laughter and companionship to his life and was an incredible source of love and support to Jack throughout his long and difficult cancer fight. Her presence made each of his days better and would bring a smile to his face even during the most challenging moments.

Jack faced his 18-month battle with remarkable faith and courage. What his family admired most was his unwavering faith in God, his steady and calm approach to setbacks and his continued concern for the well-being of others over his own. He remained grateful for each sunrise he was given and equated suffering trials to grow closer to God. He often reminded us that our earthly life is only one grain of sand compared to the endless shores of eternity.

Jack leaves behind a family that loves him beyond measure. He is survived by his parents, Paul and Dawn Jenson, brother Luke Jenson, grandparents Richard and Patricia Tobin of Castle Rock, CO; grandparents Dan and Julie Jenson of Watertown, SD; his aunt Amanda and uncle Josh Gaube of Basalt, CO; his aunt, Amy Jenson and cousins Jed and Chloe Jenson of Rapid City, SD. Jack was preceded in death by his uncle Patrick Jenson.

Jack will be remembered for his humility, gratitude and hope that he kept throughout his life, his intense love of family and friends, and his authentic Catholic faith. He was so easy to love.

His family and friends will miss him more than words can express and will strive to carry his memory, his example, and his love with them always.

A Viewing/Visitation will be held at Olinger Andrews Caldwell Gibson Chapel, 407 Jerry Street, Castle Rock, CO, on August 24, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

A Recitation of the Rosary will be held at St, Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 2746 Fifth Street, Castle Rock, CO, on August 25, 2026, at 9:30 am.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 2746 Fifth Street, Castle Rock, CO, on August 25, 2026, at 10:00 am, and a reception is being held in the church fellowship hall immediately following the Mass.
