Jacquelyn Rachel Huddle was born on February 1, 1928 in East St. Louis, Illinois to Pearl Stone Huddle and William Troutman Huddle. Jackie grew up in St. Louis and graduated from Ritenour High School where she was a baton twirler and editor of the school paper, the Pepper Box. It was there that she met the love of her life, Bob Harrington.
Jackie and Bob married on April 9, 1949. They had two children, Christine, born in Iowa Falls, Iowa and Bill born in Omaha, Nebraska. Jackie and Bob moved their family many times over the years (including spending 18 months in Belgium!), each time collecting more lifelong friends and fascinating stories. Everywhere Jackie went, she created a community…and probably also a variety show. After Bob retired in 1982, Jackie and Bob settled in Lake Wylie, SC, where they built a home that served as a family gathering place for more than 40 years!
Jackie loved to play golf and bridge. She was handy with technology – using the latest and greatest all the way up to the end. She doted on her grandchildren who stayed with her for weeks every summer. Most of all, Jackie was nothing if not an entertainer. She wrote plays, organized talent shows and loved to host friends and family. It wasn't uncommon to be invited to a themed cocktail party at her house, costume required. Tremendously sharp, generous, and creative, she was a fixture in the River Hills community. Everybody knew Jackie. She will be greatly missed by many. We find comfort knowing she's watching over us (and telling everybody in Heaven what to do)!
Jackie was preceded in death by her husband (William Robert Harrington), parents (Pearl and Bill Huddle), brother (William Troutman Huddle, Jr.) sister (Yvonne Constance Huddle Muentefering), and son (William Robert Harrington, Jr.). She is survived by her daughter, Christine (Mike Rizzardo) Iselin, grandchildren Julie (Russell) Lamb, Jenna (Nick) McIntyre, and Robert (Kelly) Harrington and great grandchildren Camille Lamb, Dylan Lamb, Barrett McIntyre, Regan McIntyre, and John McIntyre.
