Jeannie Taber was born in Hayward, California on October 9th 1942. She was the 3rd of 7 born and only the 2nd to survive. She was very ill after she was born because her mother had the RH negative blood type which caused the antibodies in the blood to attack the baby’s antibodies. It was very unusual for the 3rd child of an RH negative mother to survive. The family gave her vitamin K around the clock every 2 hours and was able to keep her alive. Her mother was one of the first women experimented on to develop the shot given to women today to prevent the antibodies in their blood from attacking the babies.
In her early childhood her family, including grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins lived in or near a tent city on the side of a hill in Riverside CA. Because her family didn’t have money her toys were spiders, horned toads and whatever else she could catch. Her and her sister made clothes for the horned toads and dressed them up. That’s when her sewing began!!!
Jeannie met the love of her life, Marvin Taber when she was 16 and he was 27. They were married on New Year’s Eve, 1960 when he was 28 and she was 17. Their daughter Laura was born 21 months later and their son Kenneth was born 2 years after Laura.
They moved to Colorado in 1972 so that they could provide a better life for themselves and their children. She eventually got a job at Kaman Instrumentation and became a laser welder. She earned many certificates over the 20 plus years she worked there. Even though she worked full time she still found time to pursue her hobbies and spend time with her kids and grandkids
Marvin passed away 10 years ago and they had 50 wonderful years together. She moved to Castle Rock and it didn’t take long before she made many new friends.
Her greatest gift was her compassion and love for everyone. She was a true friend, mother, sister and daughter. She never hesitated to help someone in need. She took care of many people during the last months of their life.
A profound Matriarch and an amazing woman with a pure heart and love for her family.
She will be missed by many.
