Our precious son Jefferson was taken from us, so early in his young life. In time our grief will lessen and be tempered with countless memories and moments of an intelligent, compassionate, and thoughtful soul. Through much of his youth he was active in Scouting, first Cub Scouts then Boy Scouts, achieving the rank of Eagle in the Spring of 2018.
Jefferson was born on February 17, 2002. His arrival brought inexpressible joy to our lives and he remained a joyful gift to us every day right up to the day he passed away. Now, it is inconceivable how we will move forward without his loving, humorous presence.
Jefferson was truly a member of Generation Z; we have noticed that members of this generation are not only incredibly technically savvy, but they are also compassionate and patient. Those last two are especially important attributes when helping parents, or anyone older than 40, with anything that is technical from computers to smart phones, to the TV remote control and our vehicles.
It is important to know that Jefferson loved seeing his friends and participating in their group activities. He enjoyed hiking with his parents and hanging out with us around our home. Jefferson was a very compassionate person, helping people he saw in need without being prompted to do so. He was beautiful.
Jefferson leaves behind his parents, Greg and Ann Dirks, of Castle Rock, his older brother Nathan Dirks and Fiancé Sydney Shoff, of Pittsburgh, PA, his Grand Parents, Ronald and Carolyn Kinney, Uncle Paul Kinney and Uncle Rob Kinney in Wooster Ohio, Aunt Amy and Uncle Geoff Mangelsdorf, and cousin Peter in Carlisle, PA, Uncle John and Aunt Marilyn Dirks, cousins Gwendolyn, Timothy, and Johnny Dirks in Annapolis, MD. His Aunt Sue Bozinovski and Uncle Michael Carter in Thorton, CO, and especially our caring and loving neighbors in our close-knit community. He also leaves behind dear friends that made a difference in his life. Please know, that he loved you all.
