Joan Jeanette Schutte

Joan Jeannette Schutte (Malcinski) age 87 passed away Dec. 2, 2020 at Brookside Inn Skilled Nursing facility in Castle Rock, CO after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. Joan (Joni to her close friends) was born July 17th 1933 in St. Louis, MO to Vera (Shylanski) and Max Malcinski. She graduated from Rosati Kain High School in 1951 and in 1958 from DePaul School of Nursing. After becoming a registered nurse she worked in various settings including hospital, nursing home and a children’s center. She married Patrick L. Schutte in 1961 and was his devoted wife until his passing in 2015. They were active members of St. Joachim and St. Anne church in St. Charles MO where they enjoyed serving in the food pantry. Joan enjoyed playing the piano, bible studies, writing poetry, arts and crafts, hosting large family gatherings and spending time with family, especially the grandchildren. She leaves behind brother Tom (Norma) Makcinski of Dellwood, MO, son Stephen (Jackie) Schutte of Castle Rock, CO and stepchildren Daniel (Jacque) Schutte of Centennial, CO, Debbie Patzald of Creve Coeur, MO, Sharon (Paul) Young of St. Charles, MO and Chris (Char) Schutte of Palmer Lake, CO as well as many adoring family members including 10 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Joan will be laid to rest along side her late husband at Jefferson Barracks in MO at a later date. She will be remembered for her warm smile, sense of humor and love for God and family.
