Born on September 21st, 1958 in Las Animas, Colorado, Johnny’s childhood days on the family farm were ones of picking watermelon and cantaloupe that taught him the value of hard work.
During his high school days Johnny was involved in a lot of different activities that included, baseball, basketball, and he was a member of the 1976 State Championship Football Team.
The infamous high school prom brought Johnny and Diane, his high school sweetheart, together. He married the love of his life on June 1st, 1978, in Las Animas, Colorado. Their first son Jason was born on October 28th, 1979, and their second son, Philip was born on February 1st, 1987. Johnny loved nothing more than spending time with his family, whether it was going on cruises, safaris, being on the golf course or just being at home.
Johnny’s book smarts, right brained nature, and sharp intellect helped him build multiple, successful, businesses. He was a man whose humility, integrity, and passion inspired everyone around him.
He was preceded by his parents, Mack and Frances Smith,
Johnny is survived by his wife Diane; sons, Jason and Philip; daughter in law, Ashley; Brother, Sonny and wife Marcella; Sister, Jean McCullough.
The Celebration of Life Service will be at Plum Creek Church in Castle Rock, Colorado on Wednesday, November 15th at 11:00am.
