June Carol Matchett
March 4, 1942 – February 27, 2018
June passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 27th.
"Not sure if you were aware of what June was battling for the past 14 years. She was diagnosed with stage 4 squamous cell carcinoma in February, 2004, and the prescribed treatment was heavy radiation. After 5 days a week for 7 weeks of radiation, the cancer was arrested, but significant damage had been done to her tongue, mouth, throat, neck and shoulder by the radiation and that damage slowly grew as the years rolled by. All nourishment and medications were accomplished through a feeding tube as she was unable to swallow. So, she slowly grew smaller and weaker over time and was unable to speak at all clearly in the last several months. She died here at her house in her sleep peacefully Tuesday morning, February 27.
She lived long enough to see all of her three boys happily married to great gals and much enjoyed being a grandma to four grandkids - two girls and two boys. Even though she could not eat, she continued to cook wonderful meals and treats for her family whenever an opportunity arose. She never complained about her condition and would only say that many other people in this world were worse off than she was. She was a wonderful Mom and Grandma and a terrific partner to me for over 43 years of life's adventures. While we miss her greatly, it is comforting to know she is with the good Lord now and no longer in any pain."
June is survived by her husband of 43 years, James "Jim" Matchett, her three sons, Don (Sharon) Matchett, Greg (Janessa) Matchett, & John (Kate) Matchett, and 4 grandchildren, Scott, Bonnie, Sean & Olivia

June bug!!! You were an angel on earth and now you are an angel in heaven. I will miss you and will never forget what a beautiful, strong and genuine person you were. Your strength will always be an inspiration to me and I am sure many others. To your family: June loved her husband and her sons so very much. She loved her daughter in laws all three and she would just shine when she talked about her grandchildren!! I just want you all to know that she is so happy I shared that with you all! Love you June bug! Until we meet again!! Love, Brenda
