Born on March 22, 1959, in San Francisco, California, Karl was the son of Lucinda Chavez. He grew up with a strong sense of family and community, which remained central to his life.
Karl graduated from North High School in 1978 and went on to dedicate 35 years of service to the Adams County School District.
He had a passion for the outdoors and especially loved fishing. He was known for his love of music and sports—a loyal fan of the Denver Broncos above all—and also enjoyed playing tennis.
Karl was a man of faith and a devoted member of Front Range Christian Church in Castle Rock, Colorado, where his service, dedication, and kindness were felt by all who knew him. He was someone who gave from the heart—generous not only with his time and resources, but with his spirit.
He is survived by his loving sister, Beckie Lee Sanchez; his brother, Michael Poynter; his nephew, Gabriel Poynter; his cousin, David Gonzales; several other cousins; one uncle and aunt; and his “nephew,” Martin Arellano, along with many friends who were like family to him.
He will be remembered for his big heart, his easy smile, and his unwavering loyalty to the people and friends he loved.
Celebration of Life services have been planned. We invite you to join us as we celebrate the life of Karl. Your presence would mean so much as we gather to honor, remember, and share cherished memories together. Please see the details in the link below.
