

Kenneth Gary Davis “Hoot” passed away on April 17, 2013 at Brookside Inn, Castle Rock, Colorado where he had resided for the past four years. He was born on February 18th, 1938 to William Franklin Davis and Hanna Webster-Davis in Ione, Colorado in a farm house where his family lived.
Growing up in the Platteville, Colorado area, he helped on the family farm. They farmed sugar beets and milked cows for their living.
He lived his younger years traveling the rodeo circuit riding saddle broncs.
On February 14, 1959, he married Judith Anne Fitch, daughter of Eugene and Edna Fitch.
He was blessed with four children: Lorene L. Davis, Kenneth G. Davis Jr., Kristine K Davis and Troy D. Davis.
He worked at Rocky Mountain Banknote in Denver, Colorado for several years where he gained his nickname, “Hoot”, after an American rodeo champion, Hoot Gibson.
After leaving Rocky Mountain Banknote he began a career at Brighton Feed and Farm Supply in Brighton Colorado. Due to health issues, he chose to live the life of a cattle trader. He traveled the circuit to livestock auctions all over Colorado.
Several years later, he worked at Humana Hospital in Aurora as part of the janitorial staff.
He enjoyed auctioneering and started up his own auctioneering company.
He then settled into a job at the Arapahoe Park Racetrack working as a security guard and lived in Watkins, Colorado until he suffered a stroke that forced him into retirement.
His passion was his possessions. His trucks and trailers were his life. Traveling back and forth to Kansas where he most desired to live.
In 1980, Kristine K. Davis married Fred M Pemberton. He was blessed with two granddaughters Stacey Pemberton and Stephanie Pemberton.
He lost his beloved wife, Judith Anne Davis to cancer on August 26, 1981.
In 1983, Lorene L. Davis married Bruce A. Myers. He was blessed with two more granddaughters Amanda Myers and Lindsey Myers. In 1997, Lorene then married Henry L. Hartfiel Jr. Another granddaughter, Shelby Hartfiel further blessed his life.
In 1983, Kenneth Gary Davis Jr. married Loni Heath.
In 1986, Troy D. Davis married Carleen Parker and three more grandchildren blessed his life, Erik, Chase and Amber Davis.
In 1988, Kenneth Gary Davis, Jr. married Sharon Puckett and divorced three years later.
After his retirement, he lived in multiple places. He then planted his boots in Kiowa, Colorado in 2006 and lived there for three years. In 2009, he had a massive stroke that kept him from living on his own and was moved to Brookside Inn. He lived out the remainder of his life at Brookside Inn and was known as “Cowboy”.
He is survived by his four children and spouses, Lorene (Henry), Kenny (Loni), Kristine, Troy and his eight grandchildren and spouses, Amanda, Lindsey (Dan), Shelby Hartfiel, Stacey (Jay), Stephanie (Tom), Erik (April), Chase and Amber. Also surviving are his three brothers and spouses, Donald Davis, Charles “Buster” (Joyce), Lanny Davis and his two sisters, Colleen Liefheit and Frankie McGruder.
