Larry Joe Call was born on March 19, 1944, in North Platte, Nebraska, to Joe and Ellen (Leppens) Call. He attended St. Patrick's Catholic School in North Platte before continuing his education at Kearney State College.
On August 8, 1964, Larry married Catherine "Cathie" McCulley. Together they raised three children and built a life grounded in faith, family and hard work. Larry spent 43 years in the telephone industry, beginning as an installer of central office equipment before becoming an estimator. He was known for his dedication, dependability, and strong work ethic.
After Cathie's passing on December 14, 2003, Larry married Ethyll Bean on March 10, 2007. Together they shared many adventures traveling, exploring, and making new memories. Their home became the heart of the family, a place where everyone was always welcome and where holidays, celebrations, and everyday visits created lasting memories.
Larry was a gifted self-taught craftsman who could repair or build just about anything. Whether working on automobiles, building homes, or tackling a new project, he relied on ingenuity and the belief that there was always a way to figure it out. He was always willing to lend a hand or share what he had learned. Larry also had a passion for walleye fishing. Alongside his longtime fishing partner and friend, Gene, he competed in tournaments throughout the years, bringing home many trophies that remain proudly displayed in his home..
Above all, Larry was devoted to his family. He is survived by his wife, Ethyll; his children, Jeffrey Call (Sonia), Stacie Sneider (Dan), and Shannon Coons (Michael); eight grandchildren, Stephen Call, Adam Call, Kate Call, Matt Sneider (Mallory), Ben Sneider (Claire), Nick Sneider, Catrina Coons, and Anna Coons; and his great-grandson, Marshall Sneider.
Larry will be remembered not only for what he accomplished, but for the way he lived—with humility, kindness, perseverance, and an unwavering devotion to the people he loved. His legacy lives on in the lessons he taught, the example he set, and the many memories that his family and friends will carry with them forever.
