

Larry Clinton Haught, 83, of Castle Rock, CO passed away after a long, brave battle with cancer on March 11, 2024. Larry was born in Michigan City, IN on November 5, 1940, to Byrl and Lois (Wishon) Haught.
In high school, Larry was active in sports, playing baseball, basketball, and football. He graduated in 1959 from Elston High School in Michigan City. He went on to graduate from the American Academy of Art in Chicago where he specialized in advertising art and earned his BA from Eastern Illinois University. After college he enlisted in the Air Force and was stationed at Cannon Air Force Base in Clovis, New Mexico from 1963 to 1967.
After serving in the Air Force, Larry worked in a small advertising agency in Chicago where he worked on many ad campaigns including Kellogg’s Cap’n Crunch. He then went on to work for the Department of Defense first at Chanute Air Force Base in Rantoul, Illinois then for the Space Command in Colorado Springs where managed graphics, photography, video production, presentation services, and video teleconferencing. He retired with over 38 years of federal service.
Larry enjoyed hiking the Colorado Rockies, golfing, photography, traveling and spending time with his grandchildren. He was an avid sports fan, particularly the Chicago Bears and the White Sox.
Always having a love for watercolor painting, Larry decided to use his retirement to seriously attempt this difficult medium. He attended workshops conducted by many internationally known watercolor artists and joined the Pikes Peak Watercolor Society where he was part of a weekly painting group who became lifelong friends.
He became a signature member of the National Watercolor Society, the Western Federation of Watercolor Societies, the Colorado Watercolor Society, the Kansas Watercolor Society, and the Pikes Peak Watercolor Society and won numerous awards including the H.K. Holbine Award, National Watercolor Society and was part of the National Watercolor Society 89th Traveling Exhibition. His paintings can be found in homes and businesses around the United States and Europe.
Larry is preceded in death by his parents, Byrl and Lois Haught; son-in-law Gary Bargamian; and grandson-in-law Hunt Cable. Larry is survived by his wife, Carolyn; daughter, Jodi; son, Greg; stepson, Randy and his wife Birgitt; stepdaughter, Kimberly; and grandchildren, Michael, Elizabeth, Mason, and Mya.
