Louis Fred Padilla

Louis was born Jan. 16, 1936 in Albany, to Fred and Rose Padilla. As a young child, Louis lived on a farm in Fort Collins. He moved to Laramie when he was a teenager and worked various jobs to help support his family. In 1954 he began working for Spiegelberg Lumber, where he worked for 30 years. In 1956 he married the love of his life, Josephine. When he wasn’t working you could find him playing with his band, The Spoilers at many venues in Laramie. Louis always loved music. He had a large family in Laramie and loved Wyoming. He oversaw the construction of many of the buildings in Laramie and throughout Wyoming. In 1984 his work led him to Castle Rock where he became the head of building maintenance for Castle Pines Golf Club. He worked for Castle Pines until he retired in 2009. Hard work was always important to Louis, and he instilled that in his children and grandchildren. He spent his life as a carpenter and a builder, and he could fix almost anything. He was a proud family man and enjoyed spending time with his family. He loved country music, western movies, and football.

Louis is survived by his wife of 61 years, Josephine, and their six children Stephen Padilla, of Castle Rock; Chrissy (Dave) Witt, of Castle Rock; Florence Pike, of Elizabeth; Wendy Padilla, of Denver; Karla (Gary) Johnson, of Highland’s Ranch; and Joseph (Debbie) Padilla, of Castle Rock. He had many grandchildren and great-grandchildren who adored him.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his step-mother Angie, brothers George and Gilbert Padilla, sisters Eva and Stella Mendoza, his sons-in-law Marlowe Jones and Jeff Pike, and many other relatives.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association and/or Donate Life America.

A viewing will be at 1 p.m. with a memorial service to follow at 1:30 Feb. 6 at Castle Rock Church of Christ in Castle Rock. Cremation will occur after.
