Mary E. Kasunic

February 22, 1931March 2, 2013

Mary Kasunic died suddenly Saturday March 2, 2013 in Castle Rock CO after having recently celebrated her 82nd birthday with friends and family.

Mary was a graduate of Collinwood High in Cleveland Ohio and moved to CO in 2001 with her husband to be closer to her children and grandchildren.

Mary’s husband of 62 years [Big Lou] preceded her in death by nine weeks.

Mary retired after thirty years with the Wickliffe, Ohio public schools serving as the principal’s secretary. She was a member of Grace Chapel Castle Rock church, a board member of the Ohio School Employees Retirement System for two decades, a member of Eastern Star, the treasurer of the Castle Rock Red Hat Rocks, an avid reader, and she baked the best cherry pies and cheesecake in America.

Mary is survived by her sons Brian Lee Kasunic and Dr. Louis Kasunic, wife and daughter in love Wanda, and son from another mother Dr Jeff Harsch (Laura), grandchildren Mason, Tara, Collin, Maurissa, and Andrew (Becky), and one great- grandson Colton. She is also survived by her sister Eileen Crow (husband Chuck), Sister in law Donna Bunsey (husband Bill deceased) and many nieces and nephews.

Mary’s commitment to her husband and family and friends was rare indeed in this modern world.

A joint memorial service for Mary and Lou will be held at Grace Chapel Castle Rock, 935 Evalena Rd., Castle Rock, 80108 on Saturday March 30 at 11 am. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in their memory to Grace Chapel Castle Rock.

So Sorry to hear about your mother. She was a wonderful person. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. Mary and I went to Collinwood High School together. We shared a lot of good times and laughs when she would come to the Collinwood girls luncheons.

Brian & Lou. I was sorry to see of mom's passing in the News Herald back here in Ohio. Your mom was a special friend, as well as your uncle Bill from the "Old Neighborhood". The family lived on Ashburton, and I lived on Rugby. Your grandmother was the crossing guard for many years at "Donovan's Loop."
I became re-connected with mom through the Collinwood High School Alumni Association many years ago.
My deepest condolences on the loss of mom.
