Mary Joan Woody

Mary Joan Woody, 89, formerly of Lee’s Summit Missouri, passed away in Highlands Ranch, Colorado on Easter Sunday, March 31, 2024. She was born in Clinton, Missouri to George and Marie McQuitty in Clinton Missouri On September 1, 1934.

Joan married Gerald Woody (Jerry) on March 17, 1954. They were high school sweethearts and celebrated their 67the anniversary in 2021.

Joan was a loving and supportive wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend. She was known for her loving care, sense of humor and inner strength. Her pets were a big part of her life and joy.

After transferring to Michigan, Iowa, North Dakota, Minnesota with Jerry’s career, they returned to Lee’s Summit, Missouri for their retirement years. Traveling and photography became their past time and visiting their children and grandchildren. In 2018 the Woody’s moved to Colorado to be near family.

Joan had many hobbies, and talents but rug hooking became her passion, and her creations were works of art.

Joan is missed and is remembered lovingly by her children and their spouses, five grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren in addition to extended family and friends.
