Born on July 22, 1983, in Denver, Colorado, to Robert “Bob” and Sherrie Pearson, Matt grew up in the Littleton area alongside his sister, Kelly, sharing experiences, memories, and family bonds that remained an important part of his life. On May 1, 2009, he married his wife, Danielle, beginning a life and family together. At the heart of the life they shared were their children, Taylor and Ryan, and the family they built together.
For nearly 19 years, Matt dedicated himself to the elevator industry, beginning his career with KONE Elevators and the International Union of Elevator Constructors (IUEC) Local 25 in 2007. He took great pride in his work and in being a member of Local 25, representing the skilled men and women of the elevator trade in the Denver area. With nearly two decades, his career with KONE and the IUEC became an important part of his life, bringing with it lasting friendships and connections with those he worked alongside.
Outside of his career, Matt had a deep appreciation for nature and the outdoors and an enduring fascination with Mother Nature, especially extreme weather. He loved both storm watching and storm chasing and was captivated by the power and unpredictability of the natural world. An animal lover through and through, he had a special place in his heart for animals of every kind. His many other interests included fly fishing, photography, cooking, jeeping, and exotic sports cars. He was also a devoted OU football fan and loved movies of every genre.
Traveling, experiencing new places, and trying new things were also an important part of who Matt was. Germany held a particularly special place in his heart, as did enjoying a good beer. With a natural sense of adventure, he was always open to a new food, destination, activity, or experience. Even a well-planned trip could unexpectedly turn into what Matt and his family affectionately called a “choose your own adventure”—and those adventures often became some of their most memorable stories.
More than simply a collection of hobbies, his many interests reflected the way Matt approached life—with curiosity, enthusiasm, and an appreciation for the world around him. Whether watching a storm build on the horizon, capturing something through his camera lens, cooking, heading out in the Jeep, cheering on OU football, planning the next trip, or simply enjoying time with the people and animals he loved, he found joy in experiencing life and sharing those experiences with the people he cared about.
He is survived by his wife, Danielle Pearson; his children, Taylor and Ryan Pearson; his mother, Sherrie Pearson; his father, Robert “Bob” Pearson; his sister, Kelly Pearson; his grandmother, Dottie Evans as well as his beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family who were an important part of his life.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Rollie Evans.
Matt will be deeply missed by his family, friends, coworkers, and all those fortunate enough to have known and loved him. The memories, adventures, laughter, and love he shared with those around him will continue to be cherished by the people whose lives he touched.
