Mia Brown, our little ray of sunshine, passed away on February 12, 2024. An undetected aneurysm ruptured while she was exercising at the gym. Her loss was completely unexpected, and her family is profoundly saddened.
Mia was born on February 25, 2002 in Wuhan, Hubei Province in China. Her adoption completed this family of three siblings, she is survived by her brother, Chris and sister, Alexi.
Mia was a very precocious child, loved to be the center of attention, playing jokes, and making people laugh. She easily made friends and played soccer and was on swim team for several years. Mia, always the performer, loved music, singing, dancing, and theatre. She was a dedicated and funny actress.
Mia had tremendous body control and a work ethic to match. She earned her black belt in karate while still in middle school.
Fast forward to high school where Mia blossomed. She danced on the RCHS POMS team for 3 years, and was on the Yearbook staff and in the school theatre. Mia’s passion for photography evolved into quite a hobby. She really knew how to get the perfect shot- whether for school sports, senior pictures, nature, or hanging with friends.
Mia was an exemplary 4.0 student and participated in National Honor Society and Chinese Honor Society. She loved connecting with people and making an impression in their lives.
Mia was the “go-to” friend who always made time to offer a listening ear and cheerful outlook. She was generous and kind, and adored by parents, neighbors, teachers and coaches.
Her compassion and ability to connect with people made her a perfect fit for a career in nursing. After several college visits, she decided on UCCS as her first choice. Their impressive nursing program, staff and facility did not disappoint! Mia comes from a long line of nurses and was ready to follow in her family footprints.
Mia excelled at UCCS both in academics and Greek life. She was repeatedly on the Dean’s list and served as an officer for her sorority. She was a very fun-loving and active student.
She enjoyed her nursing instructors and student cohorts immensely. Once she got in to the hospital lab work - she gave her 200% effort.
Mia was an exemplary daughter, sister, student, and friend. She was a bright light in this world and touched so many.
