He was drafted into the United States Army at the onset of the Vietnam War in 1964, and served two years in Vietnam in combat. He attended Officers Candidate School and was commissioned as a lieutenant April 14, 1967, in the United States Army. He received the Bronze Medal for Combat Valor in Vietnam and in 1970 he was awarded the Army Commendation Medal for leadership and resourcefulness.
He served a 22-year Army career, advancing through the ranks and leading five command assignments prior to his retirement as a Lieutenant Colonel from the Army on Sept. 1, 1987.

He dedicated himself to the love and success of his family that has been encompassed in his firm for the past 16 years. Under his leadership, INTECON was named Small Business Administration Prime Contractor of the year in 2013 and has obtained multiple other prestigious awards over the course of its existence. He treated employee, contractor and customer alike with respect and faithfulness.
Michael's highest honor was being a loving husband, father and grandfather. Nothing brought him more joy. He had a passion for Jesus that served as the foundation of his love for his family. Mike's burning desire to live life to the fullest, along with his love for his family and God, proved to be the true legacy he leaves behind. He taught us all the value of being a mentor and a friend while instilling in us life lessons as only Mike knew how. He invested his heart into each of his family members and words alone will never be enough to express just how much he will be missed.
