Our beloved Michael Richard Nichols passed away on August 9, 2021. He was 77 years old. He was born to Richard and Hazel Nichols on April 25, 1944 in Denver, CO. He is survived by his sister, Mary Kraft. Mike was married to his best friend and beloved wife, Betty Nichols, for 58 years. He is the proud father of three children: Natalie Greene, Richard Nichols, and Suzanne O’Brien. Mike was blessed to have nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Mike graduated from the University of Colorado in 1967 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business. He climbed the corporate ladder, moving to many states. Mike started as a Retail Management Development Coordinator for the Southwest territory to District Manager to “A” Store Manager of one of the largest Sears stores. In 1988, his “A” store won the “All Star” award for the Pacific Northwest. He also won an award for the most maintenance agreements sold in his region. After 34 years with Sears, Mike retired as National Pricing Manager.
Mike was a member of the president’s council at Gonzaga University in Spokane, WA. In Chicago, Mike was awarded a certificate of recognition for his dedication to Chicago area patient’s blood donor programs. Mike was a member of the Knights of Columbus at St. Francis of Assisi church. His hobbies were archery, playing tennis, working out, hiking, gardening, and reading and writing Christmas stories and books for his grandchildren. He was a religious person who was caring and giving; a loyal, hard-working man of integrity. Mike was full of energy and so much fun to be around.
