Myles Wendell Heberlein, born July 21, 1962. 2nd born of 3 brothers and 1 sister. Myles is preceded in death by his father, Donald Mark Heberlein, Jr. He is survived by his son, Jake Heberlein, his mother Katharine Harper, his elder brother, Donald M. Heberlein III, younger brother, Gregory Randall Heberlein, next younger brother, Scott Heberlein, baby sister, Elizabeth Ann Worrall
Myles was a rambunctious child with a lot of curiosity. He always was into everything, asking so many questions and driving his parents and teachers crazy. As a teenager and young adult he became an excellent fisherman and surfer, growing up on the coastal area of Southern California. He was very proud to be recognized as a professional surfer, sponsored by Dewey Weber Surfboards. He surfed many of the world’s greatest and largest surf, from the Great Mavericks, Santa Cruz, Ventura, all the way down the Baja Coast to southern Mexico, & the Hawaiian Islands, etc.
Myles was married on August 25, 1992 to his beautiful wife, Noriko. They gave birth to his only child Jake Heberlein on January 20th, 1999. Jake was the most wonderful part of Myles’s life. Myles was very close to his son and taught him to be an excellent surfer and a good student as well. Myles always saw Jake as his greatest accomplishment. Jake meant everything to Myles and he wanted his son to be the best man he could be – as all fathers do…he wanted him to be better than himself.
Myles saw beauty when others did not. He loved the earth much more than most. He kept himself in top physical condition and loved to run, ski, skateboard, but surfed like no other! Myles had an incredible taste in music and was a super duper dresser. He was truly a free spirit and did things his way! He was very protective of his family and friends. He could be outspoken to others who challenged him. The outdoors is where he loved to be. Myles was right by your side and had an opinion on most things and was not shy to offer it. He was the type who put family and friends first and not care so much about his personal problems.
As he aged, he developed emphysema and C.O.P.D., and that was very difficult for him. His smile was infectious and true! He passed away Sunday, August 26th and wanted everybody to know, “he knew he was sick, but lived life to its fullest.” Myles truly left a legacy and will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
