Naomi was born on December 24, 1923, in Stafford, Kansas, to George and Eliza Richardson. She graduated from Stafford High School in 1941. After graduation, Naomi worked at Stafford Lumberyard, where she met and later married Carl C. Gill. They had three children and were together for 35 years, until Carl’s death in 1977. In 1961 Naomi received her cosmetology license and shortly after she and Carl opened Casady Square Beauty Salon in the Britton/Nichols Hills area of Oklahoma City which helped support their family. After Carl died, Naomi sold the business, but continued as a hairdresser for 43 years in Oklahoma City. She then retired and moved to Colorado to be closer to her children and grandchildren.
Naomi was baptized, in her twenties, becoming a member of the Church of Christ, of which she was a faithful follower for over 70 years. She loved attending Church, studying her Bible, and growing in the Faith. She was a loving wife and mother her entire life, and always enjoyed being with her family.
She will be remembered as a wonderful homemaker, mother, and grandmother who loved her family, a gifted hairdresser and businesswoman, and a loyal, faithful Christian woman who loved and served the Lord her entire life. We celebrate Naomi’s life, her example for all of us, her love and incredible generosity, and her complete and steadfast dedication and faithfulness to the Lord. We rejoice that she is free of pain and suffering and is looking down on us from heaven.
Naomi was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Gill; parents, George and Eliza Richardson; brother Leland Richardson; sister Velma Benton; and grandson, Donovan Barkus. Naomi is survived by her three children, Barbara Bishop, Jeanette Barkus, and Brian Gill, as well as seven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
