Nicklaus Gregg Downing

October 1, 1993June 7, 2020

Nicklaus Gregg Downing October 1, 1993 – June 7, 2020 With deepest sorrow, we announce that Nicklaus Downing “Nick”, our beloved son, brother, family member and friend to so many passed away suddenly Sunday, June 7, 2020 at the age of 26.

Nick touched so many people during his life, with his larger than life personality, ear to ear smile, giant wingspan hugs, and compassion for all. Nick always desired to be surrounded by friends and family as that gave him immense happiness and peace. He had a unique way of bonding with people, from young children, his peers, their parents, as well as seniors (yes, grandparent types)!

In Nick’s professional career he was working as a data analyst for Elavon. He was excited, determined, and driven about his future opportunities within this organization.

Nick loved animals, his Mom affectionately called him “The Dog Whisperer”; as he cuddled, hugged and loved on them as though they were his best friends too! Nick also loved sports, ALL SPORTS. He played, watched, and dreamt about sports! This year Nick was most passionate about GOLF. He could not get enough, dragging family and friends to the driving range or the course whenever they could squeeze it in…COVID 19 could not even stop his obsession for Golf. He waited anxiously for ranges and courses to open back up.

Nick will be greatly missed by many however, we will cherish him and countless memories in our hearts. We hope that you can join us as we Celebrate Nick’s Life on June 25th, 2020 at 10 am.

His service will be held at: Calvary Castle Rock 1100 Caprice Drive Castle Rock, CO 80109

We loved Nick. He spent a lot of time with our family going to and from baseball practices and games in 7th and 8th grade. And he was one of the best players on the team. He hit for power, had blazing speed on the bases and had some wonderful moments on the mound. He will be sadly missed by the de Herrera Family and by all of his Mudcat Family, including coaches Thomas, Dave and Raul & players Easton, Ryan, Kyle, Nic, Luc, Scott, Hunter, Cole, Michael, Austin, Sam, Garrett, Trey & Tanner, and all the team moms, including Kim, Karen, Carol & Corky, and by families like the Binghams. Everyone loved Nick and everyone was glad to be his teammate and friend. He made us better on the field and he made us better off the field.

I was able to catch a portion of the life celebration of your son, and it was beautiful. Made me feel like I knew him a bit, plus with the conversations we have had driving around Oklahoma. I'm so very sorry for the pain you are feeling. Please know you are in my thoughts and prayers.
