Oliver Bromwell Phebus III

Born on November 4, 1942, in Baltimore, MD, Skip was the son of Geraldine and Oliver Bromwell Phebus Jr. They relocated to Miami, Florida, where Skip, his brother Bernie, and sister Kathy grew up. He graduated from Columbus High School and Parsons College.

Skip’s first career was as a high school history teacher and football coach in central Florida. After 9 years of teaching and coaching, he moved into sales and management, where he was extremely successful. He worked in outside sales and then operated the drywall supply company, Tucker Materials, until his retirement in 2000. Skip was known for his strong work ethic and his tough, fair, and personable approach to his customers.

Skip was passionate about boating, the Florida Gators, riding Harleys, and an occasional game of golf. He loved being on the water and hanging out at lakes and oceans. He liked nothing more than a high-speed ride through the waves of the Atlantic Ocean. He had a lake house on Lake Nottely in the Georgia mountains, then on Lake Lanier north of Atlanta, and later on Lake of the Ozarks in Missouri. He moved to Castle Rock, CO, right before his first grandchildren were born, then moved back to Florida 3 years later. Skip had just moved back to Castle Rock in July from Palm Harbor, FL.

Above all, Skip cherished his family. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Ann; his children, Alexandra Tibar (Alexis) and Meredith Dros; his grandchildren, Sophie, Oliver, and Ruby; his sister Kathryn Jones; his brother Bernie (Jean); and his nieces and nephews, Laura Jones VandenBerg (Sean), Jeffrey Jones (Gina), Lawrence Jones, Charles Phebus (Rachael), and Jason Phebus (Staci).

A service celebrating Skip’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on November 4, 2026, at Olinger Andrews Caldwell Gibson Chapel in Castle Rock, CO. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Skip's memory to Humane Colorado.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Olinger Andrews Caldwell Gibson Chapel in the Evergreen Room, 407 Jerry Street, Castle Rock, Colorado 80104, on November 4, 2026, at 11:00 am.
