November 30, 1950 – July 2, 2020
Patty Bairn was called home to her Father in Heaven after a short, intense illness. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Margaret Brown, and her sister, Sandy Rodenburg. She is survived by her lifelong companion and husband Chuck, her daughter Stephany Nguyen and her husband, Hoang; her son Sam Bairn and his wife Kelli; son Andy Bairn and his wife Cynthia; and son Chris Bairn and his wife Jennifer; her grandchildren Kelsey Henson, Tanner Henson, Brad Bairn, Ben Bairn, Matt Bairn, Max Bairn, Lucy Bairn, Joe Bairn, Wesley Bairn and Lila Bairn; and her sisters Lyn Szymanski and Nancy Shakin, along with numerous nieces, nephews and a multitude of friends.
Patty grew up in a military family and spent much of her childhood exploring the United States and Europe. When her father retired from the Army, the family settled in Denver, Colorado, where she would make her home and raise her family. Here, she met the love of her life, Chuck. They married on May 5, 1970.
For the first few years of their marriage, Chuck was in the Navy, so Patty continued her military lifestyle, moving between California and Colorado. Chris arrived in 1971, and the family returned to Colorado when Chuck completed his service. Steph joined the family in 1974, followed by Andy in 1976 and Sam in 1978. Patty and Chuck raised their family in Littleton, Colorado, where she earned her degree in business science while working as an administrator at Lockheed Martin, before retiring early for health reasons. After their children started families of their own, Patty and Chuck moved to their new home in Castle Rock, Colorado, where she spent the rest of her life.
Patty remained devoted to her family, her faith and her friends throughout her life. One of her greatest joys was to listen to the sounds of family in the house during the frequent gatherings she and Chuck hosted. She devoted her life to her Heavenly Father and the LDS Church, serving as Relief Society President and Laurels’ Advisor, among many other roles throughout her life. Patty was an active and engaging person, making friends wherever she went, and many of these friendships lasted decades.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to LDS Charities and the American Cancer Society, and requests those who are able to donate whole blood and platelets to support patients who continue to fight.
