

Paul was born in Haynesville, LA, on June 14, 1934. He was the son of the late Loy and Adele Teague. He is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 62 years, Johnette Teague, his brother Terry Teague and wife Kathy of Brookland, TX, sister Anne Bice and husband Tommy of Gulf Shores, AL, daughters Tara Julian and husband David of Charlotte, NC and Tracey Morton and husband Perry of Fort Worth, TX, four grandchildren, Teague Morton and wife Allison of Fort Worth, TX, Wesley Morton of Denver, CO, Alex Julian of Valdosta, GA, and Parker Julian of Boston, MA. Paul is also survived by his beloved dog and companion, Miss Charlotte.
Paul attended Louisiana Tech University, where he graduated in 1956 with a degree in Petroleum Engineering. While at “Tech”, he met his wife Johnette and was a member of the Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity. After graduation, he started work for The Texas Company (Texaco). In 1960, after a three year leave of absence to serve in the U.S. Air Force and attending flight school, he resumed work with Texaco in New Iberia, Louisiana, where he worked as a field engineer, reservoir engineer, drilling engineer, and drilling and production foreman. In 1967, Paul became a driller and toolpusher on Texaco’s flagship submersible drilling barge, Terrebonne Bay, in Houma, LA. After starting his career on offshore oil rigs in the Gulf of Mexico, he retired in 1994 as Texaco U.S.A.’s western E&P regional vice president in Denver, CO. He also wrote the engineering textbook, “Continuous Flow Gas Live – Principles & Practices” in 1969, after designing an artificial lift system for the Nafoora Field in Libya.
Paul held various positions with Texaco, including Vice President of producing in Houston, TX, Vice President of the New Orleans, LA, producing division, Assistant to the Senior Vice President of worldwide
exploration and production in Texaco’s headquarters in White Plains, New York, Division Manager New Orleans, and General Superintendent of the offshore division in New Orleans, LA., District superintendent Morgan City, LA.
In 1996, he joined the board of Key Production Co. (now Cimarex Energy Co.) in Denver, CO, as chairman of its Compensation and Governance Committee. He retired from the board of Cimarex at the age of 84.
Paul had several industry affiliations, including the former Chairman of the American Petroleum Institute Executive Committee on drilling and production practices, former President of the Colorado Petroleum
Association, a 50-year Legion of Honor member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers. Paul was inducted into the Rocky Mountain Oil and Gas Hall of Fame in 2009. In 2016, Paul was honored by Louisiana Tech College of Engineering and Science as a Distinguished Alumni.
Johnette and Paul were college sweethearts and lived a full life together in New Iberia, Morgan City, and Slidell, Louisiana, Houston, Texas, Newtown Connecticut. They retired in Castle Pines and Beaver Creek, CO.
Paul was extremely involved and influential in the lives of his four grandchildren and remained active with them throughout his life. They frequently went skiing and spent summers with Paul and Johnette. Paul spent time traveling to their high school and college sporting events and graduations in Louisiana, Alabama, Colorado, Boston, and Virginia.
Paul, affectionately known to his grandchildren as “PT”, could best be described as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He was passionate about health, wellness, and exercise and remained active throughout his life. He was an avid skier into his mid-70’s and taught all of his grandchildren how to ski, frequently leaving them in the dust.
In his retirement, Paul and Johnette enjoyed traveling the world and visiting their family. He loved sharing stories about life experiences, politics, grandchildren, and his family. Paul was a staunch conservative and an American patriot, as evident in his yearly and highly anticipated Christmas card. Paul could always be found with his American flag pinned to the lapel of his navy blazer.
There will be a celebration of Paul’s life in the summer of 2021. Details to follow. He will be laid to rest in Ft. Logan National Cemetery in Denver, Colorado.
