Rachel Dawn (Volkenborn) Ducat, 53, of Castle Rock, Colorado passed away peacefully on August 9, 2024. Born on December 2, 1970, Rachel lived a life full of love, dedication, and service to her family and communities in Colorado, Michigan, and beyond.
Rachel was a devoted mother to her three children who survive her: Christina, Kaitlin, and Jonathan. She was also a loving grandmother to her grandson, Jonathan. Rachel took immense pride in her children, always being their greatest supporter and protector. As a grandmother, she cherished her grandson deeply, nurturing a special bond filled with love and joy.
Rachel served her community with honor and tireless dedication, first as a Deputy Sheriff and later as a Detective in the Special Victims Unit of the Douglas County Sheriff's Office. Her unwavering commitment to justice, compassion for those in need, and relentless work ethic earned her the deep respect and admiration of her colleagues and everyone who knew her. Rachel was a beacon of strength and courage, leaving a lasting impact on the community that will be felt for years to come.
Rachel was not only a dedicated professional but also a loving friend and family member. Her kindness, warmth, and generosity touched the lives of everyone she met. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and the countless others who were fortunate to have known her.
In addition to her children, Rachel is survived by her mother Judy Hurley; her brothers Eric, Timothy, and Joshua; and her sisters Jodi and Melissa. She was preceded in death by her father Jon Volkenborn and her grandparents Guenther and Frieda Volkenborn.
A celebration of Rachel's life with full honors rendered by the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office will be held on Monday, August 26, 2024, at 10 o’clock in the morning at Grace Chapel Castle Rock, in coordination with Olinger Andrews Caldwell Gibson Chapel.
