Richard Michael “Mike” King was born on June 10th, 1968 in Pensacola, Florida, where he lived with his parents Martin and Ann King. Mike attended Ernest Ward Highschool, where he was the photographer for the yearbook. In 1992, Mike graduated from Auburn University with his bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering while working a co-opt with Gulf Power Company in Pensacola though his college years.
In 1993, Mike married his beautiful wife, Susie. When first married, Mike and Susie took many trips to camp in Colorado. They lived in Pensacola, Florida for the first years of their marriage.
In 1999, Mike had his first daughter Kimberly, while living in Pensacola. Michael (2001) and Grace (2003) were also born in Pensacola. In 2004, he moved his family to Rincon, Georgia, to take a job at Georgia power. In 2004, Mike had his final child Kelly. The Kings moved to Niceville, Florida, in 2006 to start back at Gulf Power Company.
In 2007, Mike got an interview with Xcel Energy. Mike moved to Colorado with his family to work at Xcel. They lived in Castle Rock for 8 years, where they were active in their community and church. Mike was a deacon in his home church, Creekside Bible Church, and served there faithfully. He was head of a children’s ministry for many years and worked as an audio video technician on Sunday mornings often. The King family moved to Larkspur in 2015 to give life in the country a try.
On Friday the 26th, Mike passed away unexpectedly of a heart attack early that morning. He was 52.
Mike is survived by his wife, Susie King (age 49), his 3 daughters Kimberly (age 21 and recently married to Keaton Dontanville), Grace (age 17), Kelly (age 16), and son, Michael King Jr. (age 19). He is also preceded by his parents Martin and Ann King, living in Monument.
