Robert Carl Fresenborg

Robert (Bob) Carl Fresenborg, 89, of Parker, CO, died Sunday, April 29, 2018 at the Life Care Center of Stonegate in Parker, CO.
Bob was born on Saturday, June 9, 1928 in rural Parkersburg, Iowa, son of Carl and Angeline (Lubberts) Fresenborg. He was a 1946 graduate of Parkersburg High School and received his Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science from Iowa State College. He was a member of the ROTC and served in the Korean War with the U.S. Army. He continued his service to his country in the Army Reserves and retired 30+ years later as a Colonel.
On June 12, 1954, Bob was united in marriage to his college sweetheart Dorothy (Dottie) Swanson in Waterloo, Iowa. She preceded him in death on April 1, 2016 after 62 years of marriage. Bob and Dottie are survived by their three daughters, Ann (Doug) Peterschmidt of Independence, Iowa, Jane (Steve) Boand of Castle Rock, Colorado, Lori (Eric) Anderson of Bend, Oregon, and seven grandchildren: Jen, Rob, Carl, Erica, Austen, Cole and Bryce.
Bob was employed by Metropolitan Life as an executive in the Farm and Ranch Mortgage and Management division. Bob’s work took him and his family from Iowa to Illinois, California and Kansas over the years. Bob retired in 1987. He and Dottie then settled in Parker, CO.
Bob is also survived by his three sisters, Mary Alvestad of Waukee, IA, Shirley Opocensky of Culpeper, VI and Lois Ellinger of Windsor Heights, IA.
A Memorial Service is planned for 11am Saturday, June 9, 2018 at Joy Lutheran Church in Parker, CO where he and Dottie were members. We had so many good times together and we were in each other's weddings. Also had several trips together and went to Iowa State football games together. All this has meant many precious memories. My sympathy goes to all the family as the three daughters were our God children. My prayers are with you. All my love, Phyl.
