

Jim was born to parents Santiago & Guadalupe Gutierrez on March 17, 1940 in Brush, Colorado. He grew up as the youngest of 4. At the age of 14 the family moved to Denver. He attended West High School and at 17 enlisted in the US Marine Corps serving 3 years active duty & 3 years reserves. After which he returned to Denver, met and married, Patricia Needham on June 15, 1963. He was a 32 year corporate professional for Texaco Incorporated in the Denver office. He enjoyed the sport of running and ran several organized runs including ½ marathons and two marathons, one at the age of 50. Retiring early at the age of 57 he and Pat, also retired, enjoyed 20 wonderful years traveling overseas & in the U.S., spending time with friends & family.
Jim is survived by his wife, Pat (Needham) Gutierrez; his daughter, Michelle Spain (husband John); his sons, Christopher Gutierrez (wife Felicia ), Jonathan Gutierrez (husband Maurice Becnel); his sisters Jovita Gutierrez, Georgia Lahey; 3 grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren; and 4 step great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Santiago & Guadelupe; & his sister, Vera Johnson. He leaves behind many family, friends & associates who love & admire him. He will be greatly missed.
A family only viewing of the body will be available at the Olinger Andrews Caldwell Gibson Funeral Home at 407 Jerry Street in Castle Rock, CO between the hours 1:00 & 2:30 pm on Monday, December 4, 2017. The Memorial Service open to all who want to attend will begin in the Funeral Home chapel at 3:00 pm with a reception following at Chris & Felicia’s home at 1209 Castle Point Drive in Castle Rock. The family is grateful for condolences, memories, flowers & donations of choice.
