A very full life filled with love, family, friends, fun, travel, adventure and laughter.
Born in Fredonia, New York and raised in Brocton, New York, a small town in upstate New York. She grew up in Brocton when it was in its prime. A Norman Rockwell setting with her parents Fred and Franny and her older brother Jack. It was a home filled with laughs and practical jokes, giving her an unrivaled sense of humor she passed on to all of us.
A severe combination of illnesses when she was young, whooping cough and mononucleosis, left her bedridden for months. Only her mother had access to her to bring meals and care for her. Purely out of boredom she discovered her incredible artistic talent.
As a knockout blonde who couldn’t be harnessed, she lit out to West Palm Beach, Florida where she met her officer and gentlemen – the Colonel. Dale Boggie was just a young Lieutenant Air Force fighter pilot at the time. They eloped to Las Vegas and married in the Little Church of the West. A marriage which lasted for almost 64 years, until his passing.
She followed Dale to Okinawa, Japan – a rock in the middle of the Pacific. Both Linda and Lisa were born there between his top-secret flight missions. Linda during a typhoon…appropriate!
In addition to her talents of being a devoted and creative mom, always coming up with things to do, stuff to make and create, she was always active in the Wives Club, Girl Scout leader, and a Boy Scout leader (because they were more fun?). She was a devoted Daughters of the American Revolution member and Regent. She was not only a partner at home, but also helped Dale run their business Excel Services, founded after his retirement from the Air Force. After his retirement they traveled across this great country searching and researching for the family’s roots and history. She wrote the book, “ A Light at the Stern”, about the Boggie, Trost, Fleming and Hooper family trees and history. A book she published and donated copies to various libraries around the country; providing a valuable reference for others searching out the history of their own families and still used today.
Mom was famous for opening her home to everyone with a smile, a welcoming laugh and a good meal.
Preceded in death by her mother and father, Frances and Fred Trost, brother Jack and her beloved husband Col. E. Dale Boggie.
Left to carry on her love and sense of humor are daughters Linda Boggie and Lisa Anderson, their loving husbands Sikke Minnema and John Anderson, grandsons Brycen Calvin (Amanda Leavitt), Matthew Anderson (Hannah Smith) and great granddaughter Isla Dale Anderson. She was blessed later in life with her brother Jeff Ritter (Colleen) and lovely mini-me sister Melinda Clifton (children: Daniel, Ryan and Sydney Clifton-Foti (Antonio Foti, child, Dominic)).
Equally loved are Sikke’s children and their families, Karel Minnema (Kirsten De Bone-Minnema, children: Zoë and Kay}, Ernest Minnema (daughter, Lotte), Marike Minnema (Yelins Mahtat, children: Amithrin and Imrid) and John’s oldest son Jason Anderson (Laura Anderson, children: Emily, Alex, Joe, Jeff and Jordyn). She was forever grateful for the close friendship she had with her second cousin, Deanne Manzella (Tom), and loved all her nieces, nephews, in-laws, and numerous friends.
