Shawn Michael Lundgren, age 50, of Castle Rock, Colorado passed away on Tuesday, September 26, 2023. He was born in Ft. Sill, Oklahoma on December 11, 1972 to Christine "Chris" and Samuel "Sam" Lundgren.
Shawn graduated from Robinson High School in Fairfax, VA and the University of North Carolina at Charlotte with a degree in communication. He selflessly served our country in North Carolina with the Air National Guard for 9 years and 6 months. He was discharged as a Staff Sergeant and received several campaign ribbons and the North Carolina National Guard Service Medal.
Shawn met Carrie through his younger sister, Dawn. The girls were best friends since 3rd grade and after Carrie moved away they stayed in contact and in 1997 when Carrie went to visit her best friend, Shawn happened to be visiting home. The two re-connected and started dating immediately, with both families blessing. Shawn and Carrie were married October 7, 2000 and started their family 4 years later.
He worked as a loadmaster in C-130 for nearly 10 years and recently spent time working as a security specialist. He was a founding member of the Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity and a member of the Colorado Camaro Club. Shawn was a devoted husband, son and a loving father. He was the kind of man that never took himself seriously. He had a sarcastic sense of dark humor and was all around a funny guy. He had a passion for legos, cars, trivia, music and above all his family. Shawn enjoyed the solitude of the outdoors. He was full of trivia and music facts and had a deep love for 80s music and movies. He will be remembered for the way he loved life!
Shawn is survived by his wife Carrie Wenslaff Lundgren, son Shawn William Lundgren, daughter Samantha Lundgren, parents Samuel and Chris Lundgren, sister Dawn Lundgren Beatty and her husband James, sister-in-law Michelle Davis, nieces Eve and Ellie Beatty, nephew William Goodwin, parent-in-laws Bill and Laura Wenslaff, as well as many loved friends and family.
A visitation and celebration for Shawn will be held Sunday, October 1, 2023 at 1:00 PM at Olinger Andrews Caldwell Gibson Chapel, 407 Jerry Street, Castle Rock, Colorado 80104, followed by a military honors at 3:00 PM.
