Sonja thrived growing up in Castle Rock. From early childhood through her graduation from Douglas County High School she immersed herself in the community—excelling in school, sports, volunteering, and working for the town she loved. More recently she has called La Jolla, California her second home while pursing her degree in Chemical Engineering at University of California San Diego.
Sonja lived life to the fullest. She loved traveling, winter ski trips, playing in the waves of the Pacific Ocean, experimenting with new TikTok recipes, reading, attending concerts, and spending time with friends and family.
Those who knew Sonja will remember her for her radiant energy and passion for life. Her warm and compassionate personality left a lasting impression on everyone she met. Her friendships were grounded in loyalty, laughter, and genuine love. But above all, Sonja’s heart belonged to her family.
She is survived by her loving parents, Peter and Christine, her sister Annika, as well as her grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins—each of whom will carry her memory and spirit forward.
A celebration of her life will be held on Monday, September 15, 2025, 1:00 pm at the Millhouse at Philip S. Miller Park, 1375 W Plum Creek Pkwy, Castle Rock CO 80109. A reception will follow. The family asks you wear bright, festive colors in honor of Sonja’s vibrant personality.
Sonja will be remembered for her kindness, laughter and the selfless love she shared so freely. She touched many lives and her light will shine forever in our hearts.
