A proud veteran of the Korean War, Stanley carried a deep sense of duty, resilience, and gratitude throughout his life. After his service, he built a long and fulfilling career — an occupation that sparked a lifelong fascination with rocks, landscapes, and the stories the earth holds. Whether he was studying formations or simply picking up an interesting stone on a walk, he saw beauty and meaning in the world beneath his feet.
Stanley found joy in the Colorado outdoors. He loved skiing in Winter Park, where he spent countless winter days carving through fresh snow with the same enthusiasm he brought to every part of his life. In warmer seasons, he enjoyed golfing and spending time with family, creating memories marked by laughter, warmth, and quiet moments of connection.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Joan Pereira; his three sons: Michael Pereira and his wife Gainey, David Pereira and his wife Nancy, and Stephen Pereira and his wife Morgan; and his grandchildren: Adam Pereira, Andrew Pereira, Joseph Pereira, and Jaxon Pereira. His legacy lives on in the family he loved so deeply and in the many lives he touched with his kindness, curiosity, and steady presence.
