Teresa Mandrell Murphy, a devoted wife and loving mother, passed away on October 27, 2025, at the age of 61. With the fierce determination and wisdom that she employed in her life whether work, raising her son, entertaining friends and family, or outdoor adventures, she also applied to her year-long battle against ovarian cancer. Through all she remained faithful to God and his guidance and will for her life. Teresa was born to the late Albert and Jean Mandrell, as the youngest of six children on October 25, 1964 in Homestead, Florida. She grew up in Franklin, Kentucky, where she graduated from Franklin Simpson High School. Teresa furthered her education by obtaining a Bachelor of Science degree in computer information systems from Western Kentucky University.
Teresa began her career at Texas Instruments in Plano, Texas, where she met her husband, Daniel James Murphy. Teresa and Dan, were married in 1984 in Colorado and together provided a loving and caring home for their son, Tanner Murphy, born in 2000. Not only was Teresa a great mom, friend, and sister; she was also a fun and generous aunt adored by her nieces and nephews. Teresa retired from Hom Solutions as a software programmer.
Teresa was preceded in death by her husband of 27 years, Daniel Murphy, her parents Jean Mandrell Burton, Albert Mandrell and step-father Harold Burton, brothers in law Mark Murphy, Ted Murphy, and Scott Jenkins.
Teresa is survived by her son Tanner James Murphy, siblings Jeff (Fran) Mandrell of Tennessee, Jeanette (Toby) Scherencel of California, Mark (Valerie) Mandrell of California, Cindy (John) Logan of North Carolina, Melody (Scott predeceased) of Tennessee, and sister in law Pat Murphy of Colorado, plus numerous adoring nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind many dear friends and kindred spirits
Teresa was a beacon of light to her family and friends: a beautiful soul whose unwavering faith and love for her family will forever be cherished. A kind-hearted, generous, and compassionate individual, Teresa had a deep love for reading especially historical books, Tom Clancy novels, the Bible, and inspirational books. She was an avid golfer, had a passion for gardening, biking, and skiing. Teresa cherished the outdoors and was known for her adventurous spirit.
Teresa was actively involved in her community as a Douglas County Delegate and was a devoted member of Grace Chapel in Castle Rock, Colorado. Her personal qualities as a devoted wife and amazing mother were evident in all she did. She loved animals, especially dogs, and her strong faith was a cornerstone of her life.
Her legacy is one of strength and courage, leaving an indelible mark on her family and friends. The family expresses their gratitude to Grace Chapel church, family, friends, and neighbors for their unwavering support and love during this difficult time.
The funeral service will be held at Grace Chapel in Castle Rock, CO at 11:00 am on Monday, November 3, 2025. A graveside service will take place at Cedar Hill Cemetery, 880 E Wolfensberger Road, Castle Rock, Colorado, at 12:30 pm.
